    Posted on 11/23/2020

    Hawthorne Families,

We would like to share a little information with you about Hawthorne's Family Support Program.
The Family Support Program is committed to reducing barriers to academic success by linking students and their families with needed community resources. Some of the resources offered are:

    - Assisting families with accessing culturally appropriate school and community resources
    - Providing support for referrals to medical, social/emotional counseling, tutoring, mentoring, and other services
    - Providing basic needs support
-Assisting families in accessing counseling, and health support services (medical,
    dental, vision care, etc.)

We are happy and excited to welcome staff member Nick Adams as the Hawthorne FSW for the remainder of the 2020 -21 school year. He assumes the position held by Paula Murray who came out of retirement to support Hawthorne students and families when our position became vacant last fall. We thank Paula for her work and commitment to our families and collaborating with Nick to ensure a smooth transition to Hawthorne.

Nick is no stranger to the Family Support position. He served as an FSW for several years before leaving the district. He returns to us after several years away where he worked at the YMCA, as an Area Director (Seattle Parks and Rec), Vice President of the Boys and Girls Clubs of King County and as the Chief of Staff for Friends of Youth.  He brings over 12 years of experience and has supported many students, families and communities while working as a FSW at 8 different schools.

Please reach out and welcome Nick to our Hawthorne School Community! His contact information is or you can call the main office at 206.252.7210.
